The Board of Education of the Benton Consolidated High School District #103 met in Special Session on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. in the Benton Consolidated High School Board Room. Mark Minor, president, called the meeting to order.

Opening prayer was led by Jim Giacone. Stacia Sloan led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board members present: Jay Copple, Jim Giacone, Shane Cockrum, Stacia Sloan, and Mark Minor. Board members absent: Marci Glover and Robin LaBuwi.

Others present: Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Sean Docherty, Principal; Ryan Miller, Assistant Principal; and Ron Giacone, Board Attorney.

4. EXECUTIVE SESSION

4.1 Student Disciplinary Case

Jay Copple made the motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss a student disciplinary case. Stacia Sloan seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried.

The Board; Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Sean Docherty, Principal; Ryan Miller, Assistant Principal; and Ron Giacone, Board Attorney entered into an Executive Session in the Benton Consolidated High School Board Room at 6:06 P.M.

Open Session – The Board reconvened in an Open Session at 6:44 P.M. Shane Cockrum, Secretary pro-tempore called the roll. Answering present: Stacia Sloan – yes, Jim Giacone – yes, Jay Copple – yes, Mark Minor – yes, and Shane Cockrum – yes. Board members absent: Marci Glover and Robin LaBuwi.

Others present: Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Sean Docherty, Principal; Ryan Miller, Assistant Principal; and Ron Giacone, Board Attorney.

6. NEW BUSINESS

6.1 Possible Student Disciplinary Action Jay Copple made a motion to approve the Resolution Regarding Expulsion expelling student #103007372 commencing September 3, 2024 and ending June 30, 2026. Jim Giacone seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried. A copy of this Resolution has been attached to and made a part of these minutes.

7. BOARD OF EDUCATION REMARKS

8. ADJOURNMENT Jim Giacone made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:45 P.M. Jay Copple seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried.
