Bluford Unit School District 318 Board of Education met Nov. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board President Jenny Sneed called the regular meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Upon roll call the following members were present: Crystal Marlow, Jessica Case, Katelyn Lewis, Steve Tate, and Doug Shafer. Superintendent Adam Cross. Ryan Robinson, Amanda Strohschein, and Kim McCormick were present: Visitors were Jackson Pierce and Levi Weathers. 

Motion: Case-“to approve consent agenda.” 

Second: Marlow 

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: Marlow, Case, Lewis, Tate, Shafer and Sneed. MOTION CARRIED. 

Motion: Lewis-“to approve Resolution to Authorize Sale School Property.” 

Second: Marlow 

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: Marlow, Case, Lewis, Tate, Shafer, and Sneed.MOTION CARRIED. 

Motion: Shafer-“to approve 2024 Tentative Tax Levy for BUSD #318 Grade, High and Unit  Levies. 

Second: Tate

Action: Roll Call Vote: Yeas: Marlow, Case, Lewis, Tate, Shafer, and Sneed. MOTION CARRIED. 

Motion: Motion Tate-“to set 2024 Tax Levy Hearing for December 19, 2024 at 5:45 p.m. for Grade School Levy, 5:50 for High School Levy, and 5:55 for the Unit Levy in BUSD unit office.

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED. 

Motion: Case-“to apply for the FY2025 Property Tax Relief Grant.”

Second:  Lewis

Motion: Lewis-“approve first reading of Board Policy Updates October 2024 Press Issue #117 as presented.”

Motion: Tate-“to approve overnight Illinois FFA Build Conference at ISU for November 25-26.” 

Second: Shafer 

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTION CARRIED. 

Motion: Case-“to go to executive session at 6:14 p.m.” 

Second: Marlow 

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOITON CARRIED. 

Motion: Marlow-“to come out of executive at 6:33 p.m.”

Action: Voice Vote: All Yeas: MOTOIN CARRIED. 

Motion: Case-“to approve the following as volunteer pee wee coaches for 2024-25 season: Donna Wilkey, Cheyenne Spurlock and Desta McCormick.”

Motion: Tate-“to hire Steve Walkington as Full Time Bus Driver.”
