Cougars Drop Two at Huntington

 The Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team (7-7, 4-4 CL) lost both games of its doubleheader with Huntington University (16-7, 10-2 CL) on Thursday, March 16 by scores of 14-13 and 11-0.

The Cougars led 13-4 in the first game but the hosts came all the way back to earn a hard-fought, 14-13 victory by scoring 10 runs in the final three innings. Ty Williams was 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI while Casey Kalman and Blaine Keener each had three hits in game one. Keener scored three runs. Zackary Hoop went 2-for-4 with a homerun, three RBI, and two runs. Rider Minnick also homered in the game. Cole Schreck got the loss on the mound for the Cougars.

In game two, it was all Huntington. The Foresters scored all 11 runs in the fifth and sixth and Huntington starting pitcher Graham Kollen threw 7.0 innings of three-hit baseball. He struck out 10 batters on the day and shut out the Cougar offense. Johnny Nixon started for MVNU and took the loss. He went 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits and two walks.
