As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, North Egypt News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of West Frankfort. We are seeking access to records detailing businesses registered with the city in the past week. The requested information includes essential details such as Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.
This request is made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and we have asked for the records to be provided in electronic format. As members of the media dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public, we believe this information is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
Additionally, given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals. Our organization is also affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
