Analysis: Benton pays $8.45 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Benton Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 89.4 percent of the $496,227 the Benton Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $8.45 for every $1 from pension members, according to a North Egypt News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Benton contributed $443,771 to the fund, which saw a $128,367 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $52,456, or 10.6 percent, in 2016.
