Report: Benton spent $8,103 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Benton Community Consolidated School District 47 is down 6 percent from five years ago, according to a North Egypt News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Franklin County school district spent $8,655 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,103 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1142 to 1185.

Benton's spending in 2016-17 was 38 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
