Ewing-Northern Fire Protection District responded to 50 calls in 2017 - 56.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Ewing-Northern included 45 fires - 24 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 17 other fires.

In all, the department saw $55,000 in fire loss - or about $1,222 per fire.

The department also received five false calls.

The Ewing-Northern Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $140,336 in 2017.
