Thompsonville Community Unit School District 174 students suspended 21 times in a single school year

Thompsonville Community Unit School District 174 reported 21 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 21 students during the year. That equates to 6.2 percent of the 341 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes nine incidents. There were seven incidents of violence without physical injury. For 14 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes two incidents. There were one incidents of violence without physical injury. For two incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
