City of Mt. Vernon issued the following announcement on Sept. 19.
Starting Monday Sept. 17th plumbers will be beginning the replacement of water meters. There will 60 meters across town replaced as a test of the equipment before full scale replacement begins.
Workers will knock on doors and alert homeowners of the replacement. The homes will be without water for approximately 15 minutes during the swap.
