Ewing Township issued the following announcement on Oct. 8.
Waterford Charter Township (Oakland Co.) has earned Certificates of Achievement in multiple categories of the Michigan Townships Association’s (MTA) prestigious Township of Excellence program.
The township met MTA’s rigorous criteria in Financial Stewardship, Tax Collection, Election Administration, Emergency Services, Utilities, Transportation and Cemeteries. Each department in Waterford Charter Township was scrutinized for areas of improvement, and department directors updated their policies and procedures to earn MTA’s certificate.
“The Township of Excellence program is a great way for townships to do an in-depth review of all their processes, procedures, plans and ordinances,” Clerk Sue Camilleri said. “The residents of Waterford should be proud that their township government has achieved this very high level of operation. Accomplishing this goal is definitely a team project.”
MTA defines a “Township of Excellence” as a strong, vibrant community governed by a township board that adheres to best practices to deliver quality programs and services to accomplish community-driven goals. Waterford Charter Township board members have demonstrated a willingness to distinguish the township through consistently meeting the highest standards in the areas recognized by the program. The township received an MTA certificate and will be recognized in MTA’s Township Focus magazine.
