Here is the minutes provided by the board

Members Present:

Members Absent: Mike Coleman

Visitors Present: None

Chris Hayes called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM. A quorum was established.

Staley made a motion to approve the consent agenda which included the minutes of the September Board of Education Meeting, financial report, treasurers monthly report, and bills totaling $215,635.29.

Connaway seconded the motion.

Voting for the motion: Connaway, Emery, Schnautz, Staley, Mullinax, and Hayes

Voting against the motion: None

Motion Passed

Principal Wayne Stone reported on the mowing of the school yard and the area surrounding the lagoon. Field School employee Charles May has mowed the school property twice and expects to mow one more time this fall. Charles also mowed the area surrounding the lagoon so Robert Risley can test the lagoon as required by state law. Mr. Risley will be doing some maintenance on the lagoon blowers as well.

Principal Stone gave a report on the school wide fire drill held on October 9th. The Fire Department was present for this drill and the drill was successful. The fire department representative signed off on our Crisis Manual.

Transportation Discussion

Two new buses arrived the first week of October.

A limb fell on one of the school’s vans causing nearly $2,600 worth of damages. Welch’s Auto Body is taking care of the damages. The windshield and mirror will be fixed this week and the remaining damage will be repaired over Christmas break.

No board action was required for the building or transportation reports.

Superintendent Gina Ilbery reviewed the Annual Financial Report and discussed tuition costs.

Schnautz made the motion to accept the Annual Financial Report.

Emery seconded the motion.

Voting for the motion: Connaway, Emery, Schnautz, Staley, Mullinax, and Hayes Voting against the motion: None

Motion Passed

Schnautz made a motion to approve an Interfund Loan for the amount of $20,000.

Emery seconded the motion.

Voting for the motion: Connaway, Emery, Schnautz, Staley, Mullinax, and Hayes Voting against the motion: None

Motion Passed

Principal Wayne Stone discussed with the school board the need to seek bonds for Health Life Safety to purchase hand rails and fire protection devices for Field School. Tim King will be consulted concerning how to proceed from this point forward.

No board action was required.

The 2018 Field Raffle Fund Raiser was reviewed. Over $6,000 of raffle tickets were sold and the school will get to keep around $5,000. Last year’s Paragon Promotion fundraiser sold around $9,600 worth of merchandise but the school only got to keep $3,400.

Meet The Teams night was well attended and was a standing room only event. Students were recognized with their teams and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Students and staff also enjoyed the activities of the week (Spirit Week) leading up to Meet the Teams night.

No board action was required.

Schnautz made a motion to employ Jamie Brieseacher as Pee Wee Cheerleading Coach and to pay a stipend of $525.

Mullinax seconded the motion.

Mullinax made a motion to employ Daniel Morgan as assistant boys basketball coach.

Schnautz seconded the motion.

The discussion concerning the employment of a bowling coach was tabled until next month’s board of education meeting.

Connaway made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mullinax seconded the motion.
