SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital - Mt. Vernon issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.
SSM Health was announced as a prestigious Gold winner in the “Recruiting” category of the 2018 Optimas Awards by Workforce magazine, a Human Capital Media publication. The Recruiting award recognizes organizations that developed and implemented an innovative and effective recruitment initiative that helped the organization source, attract and recruit job candidates.
Celebrating its 28th year, the Optimas awards program recognizes companies achieving successful measurable business outcomes through visionary and impactful human resources initiatives.
SSM Health was recognized specifically for its efforts around recruiting graduate nurses, including enhancing engagement with nursing schools, establishing a graduate nurse residency program, and expanding communication methods during the recruiting process to include texting, email and pre-screening video sessions.
“Recruiting nurse graduates is critical to ensuring the health care needs of our communities are met, and, as a result, we have to continue to attract the best talent available,” said Thomas Ahr, System Vice President of Talent Management for SSM Health. “Our commitment to recruiting exceptional graduate nurses parallels our commitment to providing an exceptional patient experience and employee experience at SSM Health.”
