Field Community Consolidated School District 3 Board met Nov. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Members Present: Chris Hayes

Rob Emery

Jonathon Schnautz

Rodney Mullinax

Jeff Staley

Members Absent: Mike Coleman

Visitors Present: Amanda Wheeler

Chris Hayes called the meeting to order at 7:34 PM.

Tim King spoke about Field School purchasing bonds. Mr. King recommended the school could sell bonds and buy those same bonds thus collecting the interest on the bonds.

No board action was required

Schnautz made the motion to approve the consent agenda which included the minutes of the previous meeting and bills totaling $204,162.31. Emery seconded the motion.

Voting yes: Emery, Hayes, Mullinax, Schnautz, and Staley

Voting no: None

Principal Wayne Stone gave an updated report on the status of the lagoon. Robert Risley has repaired the lagoon blowers and they are functioning properly. Mr. Risley will return in December to check up on the lagoon and blowers.

No board action was required.

Principal Stone gave an update on the work taking place to stop the rain water that comes in the building west of the speech room. Maintenance employee, Charles May, has begun digging to place the drainage pipes that will remove the excess water.

No board action was required.

Transportation Report: Rod Marlow’s van had a tree limb fall on it. The windshield and mirror have been replaced and further repairs will be made over the Christmas Break. Amanda Rincker’s van hit a deer and the insurance company has been notified. Bus 6 has some leaking around the windshield. The bus company has sent sealant to fix the problem.

No board action was required.

Field School Pre-K has been awarded the Gold Circle of Quality Award which is the highest designation available.

ESSA Designation for Field School was Commendable. Student scores on the PARCC are trending upward.

No board action was required.

Staley made the motion to accept the Short Term Substitute Training Agreement as presented. Emery seconded the motion.

Voting yes: Emery, Hayes, Mullinax, Schnautz, and Staley

Voting no: None

Emery made the motion regretfully accept the retirement of Vicki Hayes. Staley seconded the motion.

Voting yes: Emery, Hayes, Mullinax, Schnautz, and Staley

Voting no: None

The employment of a possible bowling coach has been tabled until the December Board of Education Meeting.

Schnautz made the motion to employ Becky Shirley has Head Cook upon the retirement of Vicki Hayes. Mullinax seconded the motion.

Voting yes: Emery, Hayes, Mullinax, Schnautz, and Staley

Voting no: None

Schnautz made the motion allow Principal Stone to hire an Assistant Cook at his discretion. Staley seconded themotion.

Voting yes: Emery, Hayes, Mullinax, Schnautz, and Staley

Voting no: None

Staley made the motion to allow Principal Stone to hire a Teacher’s Aide for the 6th-8th grade resource room.

Schnautz seconded the motion.

Voting yes: Emery, Hayes, Schnautz, and Staley

Abstaining: Mullinax

Voting no: None

Emery made the motion to post the position of Principal for the 2019-2020 school year in January of 2019 and to appoint a Principal Selection Committee consisting of: Chris Hayes, Rob Emery, Wayne Stone, and an alternate

Johnathon Schnautz.

Mullinax seconded the motion.

Voting yes: Emery, Hayes, Mullinax, Schnautz, and Staley

Voting no: None

Chris Hayes made a motion to move the Field School Board Meetings from the 3rd Tuesday of each month to the 3rd Monday of each month until the end of the school year. Staley seconded the motion.

The motion passed without opposition.

Schnautz made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Emery seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 8:42 without opposition.
