City of Orient City Council met December 10

City of Orient City Council met Dec. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Loretta Umbenhower called the regular meeting of the Orient City Council to order at 6:00 PM.

Roll call taken, with council members Justin Boswell, Gary Metzger, Jim Sitzman and Matt Swanson present. City Attorney, David Grapentine was also present. Council member Shawn Subbert joined the meeting at 6:04 PM.

Motion made by Boswell, seconded by Metzger to approve payment as presented in the Claims Report and minutes of November 12, 2018 Public Hearing and Regular session. All voting aye, motion carried.

Mindy Schaefer, Adair County Auditor, spoke regarding the changes for cities and schools for the next city and school election, November 5, 2019.

Motion by Sitzman seconded by Swanson to approve Resolution 2018-11 a resolution Adopting 28E Agreement for Fire Protection District, Roll Call: All voting aye, motion carried.

Motion made by Sitzman and seconded by Metzger to suspend the 1st and 2nd readings of Ordinance 12-10-18, AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE II OF THE CITY OF ORIENT CODE OF ORDINANCES 2017 BY RE-ADOPTING CHAPTER 115 LIBRARY FROM A PRIOR CODIFICATION OF THE CITY OF ORIENT CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING THE CITY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO CONTINUE FUNCTIONING UNDER THE CURRENT CODE and to place said Ordinance on its final reading. Roll Call: All voting aye, motion carried.

Motion made by Sitzman and seconded by Boswell to adopt Ordinance No. 12-10-18, Roll Call: All voting aye, motion carried.

Motion made by Subbert, seconded by Metzger to allow City employees to take December 24 and 25 off for the holidays. All voting aye, motion carried. Motion made by Metzger seconded by Sitzman to adjourn, motion carried.
