CITY OF ZEIGLER: New Water Flow

Water

City of Zeigler issued the following announcement on Jan. 3.

During the January city council meeting, it was announced by the mayor that the city had received a grant to replace aged water lines on Walnut, Orchard, Prairie, North, High, and Coxspur Streets. The lines serving the north area of the city were quite aged, more than fifty years old, and were in need to be changed.

When spring arrived, bids were let, and the city was ready for the transformation work to begin. Later in the summer, the equipment and materials arrived within the city and the task began. During the last week of July and the month of August, excavating was on going on the identified streets. At this time, the final stages of replacement are being completed and the new water source will be fully functional. The excavating of the boulevards is nearly complete, ready for Fall.

When this stage of the water system replacement is completed, only one street will remain to be replaced, Wilcox Street. By design, the mayor’s resident street will be the last to be completed. Thus, in a short period of time, there will be a modern delivery system throughout the community.
