Report: Mount Vernon City spent $12,153 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Mount Vernon City Schools District 80 is up 16.1 percent from five years ago, according to a North Egypt News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Jefferson County school district spent $10,465 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $12,153 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1398 to 1609.

Mount Vernon City's spending in 2017-18 was 8.9 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
