Report: Mount Vernon spent $16,067 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Mount Vernon Township High School District 201 is up 22.6 percent from five years ago, according to a North Egypt News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Jefferson County school district spent $13,106 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $16,067 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1285 to 1169.

Mount Vernon's spending in 2017-18 was 20.5 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
