Benton Chamber Of Commerce Inc issued the following announcement on May 14.
Since 2012, the St. Jude Drive has raised over $900,000 to further the lifesaving mission of the St. Jude Children's Research hospital. In 2018, 69 Corvette drivers and passengers from Peoria and Effingham raised $250,00.
This year the Corvette Drive will stop in Benton to fuel up the cars and have lunch before getting back on the highway. There will be 71 Corvettes involved in this years drive. The Cars travel in groups of 30 to 35 in 15 min. intervals. They will Exit the interstate and fuel up at Mach1 and will be escorted to the Benton Civic Center for Lunch. 15 minuets later the second group will exit the interstate to fuel up. They will have Lunch at the Benton Civic Center and Freshen up. They will then be escorted back to the interstate to continue their drive to Memphis Tn.
We are honored that they have decided to pick Benton / West City as one of their stops along the way. We know that everyone will be supportive and courteous to our visitors.
We would like to thank the West City Police Department and the Benton Police Department for their assistance in traffic control as the drive makes it way through town.
