The data shows that both of the released offenders in Opdyke were men. Of these parolees, one is a veteran. The younger parolee was a 46-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2017. The other was a 48-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2015.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Michael Smith. He was convicted of a property crime in 2017 when he was 44 years old. He is now 46.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
