City of Benton Zoning & Planning Commission met July 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

The Benton Zoning and Planning Commission's public hearing was called to order by Chairman Shockley at 6:07 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 1403 at the Benton Municipal Building at 1403 South Main Street.

Roll Call: Shockley, McGuire, Clark, Payne-Hubler, Neal, Collier 

Also Present: David Garavalia, Zoning Administrator; Members of the public

A motion to approve the June 5 Regular Meeting Minutes was made by Payne-Hubler and seconded by Collier,

Ayes: Shockley, Clark, Payne-Hubler, Neal, Collier 

Nays:

Abstain: McGuire

A motion to approve a special use application for James D Chady to own and occupy a modular home, located at 116 S. McLeansboro as presented was made by Collier and seconded by Neal.

Ayes: Shockley, McGuire, Clark, Payne-Hubler, Neal, Collier 

Nays:

Abstain:

Mr. Shockley stated that he had spoken with the mayor and city council members and noted that they seemed supportive to the Zoning & Planning Commission amending obvious inconsistencies throughout the zoning map.

Mr. Garavalia stated that over the past month, 1 building permit was requested for a fence.

Ms. Payne-Hubler noted that she was working on the nuisance ordinance to present at a later date.

The committee also discussed creating a program to recognize outstanding / well-kept yards in town.

Having no further business or public comments, a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Collier and seconded by Payne-Hubler.
