Spring Garden Community Consolidated School District 178 Board of Education met May 16.

There was nothing to report from PTO or Boosters

Are there any items to be removed from the consent agenda for individual consideration? There were none.

Motion #1: A motion by Emilee Mygatt, seconded by Ben Johnson, to approve the consent agenda items as presented. Motion carried.

There were five bids submitted for the demolition of the old Ina building. Things included in these bids removal and disposal of asbestos, removal of two big trees, removal of the actual structure and covering and packing after building is down.

Motion #2: A motion by Traven Watts, seconded by Emilee Mygatt, to award the bid for demolition of the former Ina building to Stutz Excavating in the amount of 152,675.00. Motion carried.

Going to table the work on the HVAC at the middle school until we can receive more bids.

Motion #3: A motion by Ben Johnson, seconded by Emilee Mygatt, to set forth a tentative amended budget for the 18-19 school year with budget hearing being June 20, 2019 at 6:00p.m. Motion carried.

Motion #4: A motion by Justin Page, seconded by Ben Johnson, to go into closed session at 7:06p.m. to discuss items pertaining to the appointment, employment and compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific school personnel. Motion carried.

Motion #5: A motion by Ben Johnson, seconded by Justin Page, to come out of closed session at 9:15p.m. Motion carried.

Motion #6: A motion by Emilee Mygatt, seconded by Ben Johnson, to hire Jacqueline Reiter as a teacher for the 19-20 school year. Motion carried. 

Motion #7: A motion by Justin Page, seconded by Traven Watts, to accept the resignation letter from Chris McCann as Superintendent as of June 30, 2019, Motion carried.

Motion #8: A motion by Ben Johnson, seconded by Randa Rowland, to accept the resignation fetter of Jessica Derick as a teacher as of May 31, 2019. Motion carried.

Motion #9: A motion by Justin Page, seconded by Ben Johnson, to dismiss Tanya Rudd as a teacher's aide effective immediately. Motion carried.

Motion #10: A motion by Ben Johnson, seconded by Justin Page, to adjourn at 9:30p.m. Motion carried.
