Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District 196 Board of Education met July 25.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District No. 196 was held in the Sesser-Valier High School Conference Room at 5:30 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2019. The meeting was called to order by President Teresa Stacey at 5:36 PM. President Stacey appointed District Superintendent Jason Henry as recording secretary for the meeting

ROLL CALL

District Superintendent Jason Henry called the roll with the following result:

Members Present:

Acosta, Hicks, Ketteman, Loucks, Rounds, Schoenbaechler, Stacey

Members Absent:

None

Staff Present:

B. Dilliner, J. Henry,K. Jones, N. Page

Visitors Present:

None

PUBLIC COMMENT & CORRESPONDENCE

None

NEW BUSINESS

CLOSED SESSION: At 5:38 PM, a motion was made by Loucks and seconded by Acosta to enter into closed session for the purpose of discussing the following exceptions to the Open Meetings Act:

a. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of

specific employees of the public body (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), as amended by P.A. 93-57) b. Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning the salary schedules for one or more classes of employees (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2))

Roll call voting was as follows:

Yeas: Hicks, Ketteman, Loucks, Rounds, Schoenbaechler, Stacey, Acosta

Nays: None

There being seven (7) yeas and zero (0) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

RECONVENE FROM CLOSED SESSION: At 6:24 PM, a motion was made by Acosta and seconded by Schoenbaechler to reconvene from closed session.

Voting was as follows: All voted yea. There being seven (7) yeas and zero (0) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

EMPLOYMENT OF ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM TEACHER ( WEBB, PENNY): A motion was made by Schoenbaechler and seconded by Loucks to employ Penny Webb as an

Elementary Classroom Teacher for 2019-2020, subject to her successful completion of a required, fingerprint-based criminal background check, retroactive to July 18, 2019.

Roll call voting was as follows:

Yeas: Loucks, Rounds, Schoenbaechler, Stacey, Acosta, Hicks, Ketteman

Nays: None

There being seven (7) yeas and zero (O) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

EMPLOYMENT OF ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM TEACHER (CULVER, ASHTON): A motion was made by Schoenbaechler and seconded by Ketteman to employ Ashton Culver as an Elementary Classroom Teacher for 2019-2020, subject to her successful completion of a required, fingerprint-based criminal background check, retroactive to July 18, 2019.

Roll call voting was as follows:

Yeas: Rounds, Schoenbaechler, Stacey, Acosta, Hicks, Ketteman, Loucks

Nays: None

There being seven (7) yeas and zero (0) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

EMPLOYMENT OF DISTRICT CUSTODIAN (MYERS, BRIAN): A motion was made by Acosta and seconded by Ketteman to employ Brian Myers as a District Custodian, subject to his successful completion of a required, fingerprint-based criminal background check.

Roll call voting was as follows:

Yeas: Schoenbaechler, Stacey, Acosta, Hicks, Ketteman, Loucks, Rounds

Nays: None

There being seven (7) yeas and zero (0) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

EMPLOYMENT OF DISTRICT COOK (HELDERMAN, TAMMY): A motion was made by Schoenbaechler and seconded by Loucks to employ Tammy Helderman as a District Cook, subject to her successful completion of a required, fingerprint-based criminal background check.

Roll call voting was as follows:

Yeas: Stacey, Acosta, Hicks, Ketteman, Loucks, Rounds, Schoenbaechler

Nays: None

There being seven (7) yeas and zero (O) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

TRANSFER OF EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PERSONNEL (STANLEY, LISA): A motion was made by Schoenbaechler and seconded by Acosta to transfer Lisa Stanley to a full time cook position.

Voting was as follows: All voted yea. There being seven (7) yeas and zero (0) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

APPROVAL OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT (SESSER-VALIER EDUCATION ASSOCIATION): A motion was made by Ketteman and seconded by Acosta to approve a 3-year collective bargaining agreement with the Sesser-Valier Education Association for 2019-2022 and to authorize the Board President and Board Secretary to formally execute the contract (by signature) on behalf of the Board.

Roll call voting was as follows:

Yeas: Ketteman, Loucks, Rounds, Schoenbaechler, Stacey, Acosta, Hicks

Nays: None

There being seven (7) yeas and zero (0) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Ketteman and seconded by Hicks to adjourn.

Voting was as follows: All voted yea. There being seven (7) yeas and zero (O) nays, the president declared that the motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 6:23 PM.
