Zeigler-Royalton Community Unit School District 188 Board of Education met Nov. 18.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order by President, Randy Domineck, who asked for roll call.

PUBLIC COMMENTS OR CORRESPONDENCE

None.

A motion was made by Mr. Olkoski, seconded by Ms. Kirkpatrick, to approve consent agenda, which includes the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting, review and payment of bills, and treasurer's report.

SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT

The current enrollment numbers for the district as of October 1st: HS:

172 down 5 students compared to March 15 of last year. JH:

121 down 3 students compared to March 151 of last year. PK-5: 288 which is down 11 students compared to the March 1st count of last year.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

PERA/Joint Committee

On Thursday November 5 the PERA/Joint Committee met to discuss the evaluation process. The following items were discussed:

1. Moving the professional development plan from Domain 4 to the overall Summative score. new appeals process for teachers that receive an unsatisfactory rating. 3. Remediation process for those individuals receiving unsatisfactory ratings.

I want to thank those individuals involved in the meeting.

Concussion Committee

Thursday November 8, the Concussion Committee met to discuss the district policy on concussions. Taylor with NovaCare attended the meeting to discuss performing baseline concussion test on all athletes for the 19-20 school year.

NEW BUSINESS

A motion was made by Mr. Olkoski, seconded by Ms. Kirkpatrick, to approve the tentative tax levy and set Truth in Taxation Hearing for December 16, 2019 at 5:50 PM.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Bush-yes; Olkoski-yes; Kirkpatrick-yes; Vaughn-yes; Domineck-yes; Chamness-yes. Motion Carried.

A motion was made by Ms. Kirkpatrick, seconded by Mr. Vaughn, to approve a resolution abating the tax heretofore levied for the year 2019 to pay debt service on the General Obligation School Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2018, of the District.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Kirkpatrick-yes; Vaughn-yes; Domineck-yes; Chamness-yes; Bush-yes; Olkoski-yes. Motion Carried.

A motion was made by Ms. Kirkpatrick, seconded by Mr. Olkoski, to approve a resolution abating the tax heretofore levied for the year 2019 to pay debt service on the General Obligation School Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2016, of the District.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Vaughn-yes; Domineck-yes; Chamness-yes; Bush-yes; Olkoski-yes; Kirkpatrick-yes. Motion Carried.

A motion was made by Ms. Kirkpatrick, seconded by Mr. Olkoski, to approve a resolution abating the tax heretofore levied for the year 2019 to pay debt service on the Taxable General Obligation School Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2017, of the District.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Domineck-yes; Chamness-yes; Bush-yes; Olkoski-yes; Kirkpatrick-yes; Vaughn-yes. Motion Carried.

A motion was made by Ms. Kirkpatrick, seconded by Mr. Chamness, to approve the first reading on PRESS policy updates.

ELEMENTARY/JUNIOR HIGH PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Midterm grades were posted and sent on Friday. If anyone has concerns or questions about their child's grades, I encourage you to call the office and make an appointment to meet with your child's teacher. Our teachers are happy to meet with parents and work together for success for our students.

I would like to thank everyone that came out to our Veteran's Day reception and to all of those that helped.

Our 2019 Jr. High Homecoming is in the books. Congratulations to our homecoming queen, Bella Bate. I would like to thank everyone for the great turn out for the ball game. I would also like to thank Mrs. Wingo for all of her hard work with the Homecoming festivities and all of the chaperones at our dance Friday night. Our students had a great time and made some priceless junior high memories.

Our PTO will be hosting its annual "Turkey Bingo" in the elementary cafeteria on Friday at 6:00. Doors will open at 5:30.

HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Meet the Teams for the ZR Boys' Basketball and Cheerleading Programs will be on Saturday, November 23. Mr. May said the athletic department will also be recognizing our girls that are participating in the Elverado Basketball Co-Op and the Jr. High Winter sports programs that evening as well. There will be a dinner fundraiser hosted by the ZRHS Booster club that begins at 4:00 pm and the Meet the Teams activity will begin at 6:00 pm that evening. The ZRHS Homecoming game will be Friday December 6 against Webber Township. The JV game is set to start at 6:15. The Homecoming dance will take place the following evening, Saturday, December 7th. Coronation starts at 6:30 with the dance taking place from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm here at Art Brandon Gymnasium.

A motion was made by Mr. Domineck, seconded by Ms. Kirkpatrick, to go into executive session to discuss compensation, employment, hiring, termination, of prospective or current employees (personnel), review executive session minutes, professional negotiations, and matters of student discipline, security, and litigation.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Kirkpatrick-yes; Vaughn-yes; Domineck-yes; Chamness-yes; Bush-yes; Olkoski-yes. Motion Carried.

The Board entered the executive session at approximately 6:17 p.m.

The Board returned from the executive session at approximately 9:21 p.m.

Mr. Domineck, President, asked that the meeting re-convene and asked for roll call.

PERSONNEL

A motion was made by Mr. Chamness, seconded by Mr. Olkoski, to approve hiring Brittany Morgan as Early Childhood teacher.

A motion was made by Mr. Chamness, seconded by Ms. Kirkpatrick, to appoint Justin McElroy as school board member.
