EWING TOWNSHIP: Township Clerks Could Join A Joint Absent Voter Counting Board

Electionvote

Ewing Township issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.

Township clerks could join a joint absent voter counting board (AVCB) under MTA-supported House Bill 5141, sponsored by Rep. Julie Calley (R-Portland). It is permissive and would allow municipal clerks to join a joint absent voter counting board with a county clerk or one or more municipal clerks. The measure would require a written agreement at least 74 days before an election, and the township clerk or an authorized representative must be present at the combined AVCB on election day. MTA worked with the sponsor to include amendments, including the ability to terminate an agreement by providing 84 days' written notice to the other clerks if the agreement covers more than one election.
