City of Mt. Vernon issued the following announcement on March 28.
Week 2 of the 2020 Census self-reporting numbers are in. As of 3/26/2020, Jefferson County is averaging 39.4% response, compared to Illinois average of 33% and national average of 30.2%. We are in the top 10% of Illinois counties right now for self-reporting, so great job!
Every area of the county saw a significant increase, ranging from 13%-30% jumps in numbers!
Thank you to everyone who has completed their household census so far. Now more than ever, these numbers are vital to our community's future. Let the federal government know Jefferson County is here and strong!
You have until August 14th to respond online, by phone, or by mail. The sooner you respond, the less likely an enumerator is to come to your door in May!
Log on to my2020census.gov, call (844)330-2020 (English) or (844)468)2020 (Spanish), or mail in the paper copy when you receive one.
