Illinois has designated 11 Christopher Rural Health Planning Corp. locations as COVID-19 testing sites.
Each testing site will initially have 1,100 testing swabs for testing, according to WPSD. But all sites will have access to more.
Christopher Rural Health Corp. President and CEO Kim Mitroka said accessibility to coronavirus testing is essential right now.
"It's important we know how many people have been exposed and how many people have it," Mitroka told WPSD. "The more that we can study and learn about the virus and how people are contracting it and how they're getting it, we'll be able to alter our behavior to be able to keep this as low as we can in southern Illinois."
Testing results are available within 48 hours of being tested, according to WPSD. Anyone with questions on the coronavirus or the process of being tested can call Christopher Rural Health Corp.'s hotline at 800-408-7351.
