In response to COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent economic challenges that local businesses are facing, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is holding a raffle.
According to WDML, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is holding a virtual raffle that will take place through May 28. The raffle is aimed at helping those businesses that have had to close their doors due to not falling within the essential business classification.
Chamber Executive Director Mike Beard said there are 20 businesses in the area that are on the list for the raffle. He hopes each business will be able to receive $1,000 to help with lost revenue since the shutdown has occurred.
Entries can be purchased at $20 purchased for 10 entries or $50 for 30 entries. Applicants must be 18 years or older.
“We’ve already got $2,400 of seed money raised and that’s going to go into the money that we sell on the raffle ticket,” Beard told WDML. “If we sell 1,000 tickets, that will be $20,000, plus $2,400 that we’ll be dividing up among these 20 businesses.”
