CITY OF ZEIGLER: From The Event Organizer Norma Tackett

Communitypips

City of Zeigler issued the following announcement on June 4.

While we have been enduring the COVID-19 Pandemic and staying home, many of us have found ourselves following the news more closely. As we have watched the number of cases rise, we have felt tensions rise. We have also seen the destruction caused by riots throughout the country, including many of our neighboring towns. With this in mind, now, more than ever, is the time for us to come together with a greater sense of community and pray for our safety, peace of mind, health and overall well being.

Mayor Mitchell has allowed us to gather as a community for prayer and reflection at the Zeigler Circle this Saturday, June 6th, at 5:30pm. Pastor Jason Todd from First Apostolic Church will lead us in prayer that evening. This will be a short event (approximately 15 minutes or so) to show that we are still standing together as a community and although we are going through tough times, we are in this together.

We must follow all CDC guidelines, so the number of people limited on the grassy area on the circle is 10. We must still keep our social distancing of 6ft. However, we welcome this also as a drive-in event. Vehicles can be parked in spaces all around the circle and community members may sit in their vehicle and listen to the prayer. Please show courtesy by not blocking through traffic. This is a peaceful event and we will not block be blocking off any traffic that is coming through our beautiful town. We will also be hosting this event on Facebook Live for those who are not able to come but still want to be a part of the Community Prayer & Reflection.

If you have any questions regarding this event, please reach out to me via Facebook or you may call me at 618-925-1402. We look forward to seeing many familiar, friendly faces!
