V. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATUS UPDATE

Nothing from the Fire Department

A. Recommendation of Permanent Appointment

i. Dale Abbinanti

Chief Andersen recommended the Permanent Appointment of Firefighter/Paramedic as he is doing exceptionally well and comes highly recommended. Firefighter Abbinanti will be working out of station 82.

VI. POLICE DEPARTMENT STATUS UPDATE

Chief Daigle updated the Commission on personnel.

A. Personnel Updates

i. Officers in the academy -

Candidate Wesley Campbell was sent to the Academy in January of 2020, however due to COVID-19 pandemic was unable to complete the last 2 weeks of training. It is unknown when he will be going back as that depends on the academy, and the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

The other two new officers, Matt Chlosta and Logan Hanselmann who were supposed to start the academy in March 2020 were pushed up to August.

Currently they are both working as Police Assistants.

ii. Field Training Officers -

Commissioner Nallen asked if there was anyone in the Field Training program. Chief Daigle reported that officer Crystal Wilson was still in the FTO program which was extended due to pandemic.

B. Consider Components of the Entry Level Test

i. Consider a Motion to Use IPMA-HR as Test Vendor - Motion Carried by Roll Call

RESULT: MOTION CARRIED BY ROLL CALL [UNANIMOUS]

ii. Consider a Motion to Establish the Minimum Passing Written Test Score at 70% - Motion Carried by Roll Call

Everyone liked the idea of keeping the top 60 candidates. With current economy and past experience they anticipate lots of candidates applying.

v. Consider a Motion to conduct Interviews Tuesday - Friday - Motion Carried by Roll Call

Deputy Chief Baker recommended to move oral interviews from August 17-22 to August 18-22 due to a scheduling conflict and to give extra time to those who are running the police test for the first time.
