City of Mason City Council met July 13.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe at approximately 7:00 P.M.
Council members physically present were Gerald Mahin, Jim Miller, Danny Mason and Scott Francis, Julie Mize, Kevin Snyder. Treasurer Mike Griffin, Clerk Michele Whitehead, Don Osborn and Adam Anderson also attended the meeting. Tim Sumner from CMT was also present.
The minutes of the June 22nd Council meeting and the July accounts payable and Treasurer’s report were approved.
Tim Sumner addressed the Council regarding options for the city building a new elevated water tank. Preliminary engineering suggests a 500,000 gallon tank at cost of approximately 3.3 million. Various types of grants and other funding for the project were discussed and will be investigated more thoroughly to find the best option for the city.
Change order from Schultz construction for $18,000 was approved. The change order is due to soil issues.
R-20-48 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Miller to approve the minutes , bills and treasurer’s report.
Ayes: Mason, Mahin, Francis, Miller, Snyder, and Mize
Chairman declared motion carried
R20-49 Alderman Miller moved, Seconded by Alderman Mason to approve Change order #1 from Schultz construction.
Ayes: Mason, Mahin, Francis, Miller, Snyder, Mize
Chairman declared motion carried.
R-20-50 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the payment of estimate of funds for the CSO project At $581,020.48
Ayes: Mason, Mahin, Francis, Miller, Snyder, Mize
Chairman declared motion carried.
Clerk Whitehead asked for permission to purchase a new scanner, printer, and copier for City Hall. Permission was granted.
Alderman Snyder inquired about a hearing impaired sign for a citizen.
Alderman Francis reported that he is working on a golf cart ordinance to be considered in the future.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:43 P.M.
