City of Benton Zoning and Planning Commission met Sept. 2.

The Benton Zoning and Planning Commission's public hearing was called to order by Chairman Shockley at 6:10 pm, at 1403 at the Benton Municipal Building at 1403 South Main Street, following the scheduled public hearing.
Roll Call: Shockley, McGuire, Cockrum, Collier
Also Present: David Garavalia, Zoning Administrator; Members of the public
A motion to approve August 2020 Regular Meeting Minutes as presented was made by Cockrum, seconded by Cockrum.
Ayes: Shockley, McGuire, Cockrum, Collier Nays: Abstain: McGuire
A motion to approve February 2020 Regular Meeting Minutes as presented was made by Collier, seconded by Collier.
Ayes: McGuire, Cockrum, Collier Nays: Abstain: Shockley
A motion to approve March 2020 Regular Meeting Minutes as presented was made by Collier, seconded by Collier.
Ayes: Shockley, McGuire, Cockrum, Nays: Abstain: Collier
A motion to change ACTIVITY/USE from Variety or 10 cents to Variety or Discount Retailer and allow the permitted use in Zoning Districts B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5 and B-6 was made by Cockrum and Seconded by McGuire.

A motion to table spotlight awards was made by McGuire and seconded by Cockrum.

Under public comments, Mr. Tom Carter asked when a building permit is obtained, whether all of the owners' names are recorded or if all names are recorded or does the name of a trust, etc is recorded. Mr. Garavalia stated that when an individual requests a permit, the recorded name on the property, in reference to the GIS map is used.
