Benton Chamber Of Commerce Inc issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
Local law enforcement officials would like to warn citizens of a scam occurring in our area.
The scam consist of a worker dressed in a reflective vest pretending to work for a utility company, solar company, or cleanup company making contact with a home owner. The scammer will attempt to lure the
homeowner outside of the residence to allow additional subject to go inside and steal from the residence.
The scammers are said to have an accent and speak to other subjects via radio. They are believed to be in a white color four door vehicle.
If someone comes to your door stating they work for a city or any other utility agency they should be able to provide proper identification. If you believe they are not legitimate please contact local law enforcement and do not let them in your home.
