Q2 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Jefferson County?

There were 28 offenders released on parole during the second quarter of 2020 that live in Jefferson County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by North Egypt News.

The data shows that 20 men and eight women were released in Jefferson County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 39. The youngest parolee was a 23-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2018, and the oldest was a 69-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Tyson Smith. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2003 when he was 39 years old. He is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the second quarter of 2020 in each Jefferson County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
