Q4 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Jefferson County?

There were 15 offenders released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2020 that live in Jefferson County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by North Egypt News.

The data shows that 13 men and two women were released in Jefferson County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 37. The youngest parolee was a 27-year-old man sentenced for a crime against one or more children in 2015, and the oldest was a 74-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Marlin L. Edwards. He was convicted of a crime against a person in 2011 when he was 22 years old. He is now 32.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the fourth quarter of 2020 in each Jefferson County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
