City of Mason City Council met July 12.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe at approximately 7:00 P.M.
Council members physically present were Scott Francis, Gerald Mahin, Kevin Snyder, Danny Mason, Julie Mize, and Jim Miller. Treasurer Mike Griffin, Clerk Michele Whitehead, Superintendent Wayne Dixon and Chief Adam Anderson, and Marion Combs were also present.
The minutes of the June 28th, 2021 Council and executive session meeting and the accounts payable and Treasurer’s report were approved.
R21-66 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve the regular session minutes of the June 28th regular and executive session meeting, the accounts payable and treasurer’s report.
Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason
Nays: None
Chairman declared motion carried.
Superintendent Dixon inquired about purchasing new radios for the Public Works Dept so that they can communicate and coordinate with the Police and Fire departments as needed.
R21-67 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Mize to approve the purchase of new radios for the Public Works department.
Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason
Nays: None
Chairman declared motion carried.
Superintendent Dixon also inquired about adding $20,000 to the sewer lining project for root removal. The Council agreed.
R21-68 Alderman Mize moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve adding $20,000 to the sewer lining project for root removal.
Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason
Nays: None
Chairman declared motion carried.
Pay request #16 to Schwartz construction was approved for the amount of $60,065.18
R21-69 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Miller to approve pay request #16 to Schwartz construction for the CSO project.
Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason
Nays: None
Chairman declared motion carried.
Alderman Miller explained to the Council that there are 3 trees on Yates street needing removal or trimming. The cost will be approximately $4650.00. The Council approved
R21-70 Alderman MIller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the expense of $4650.00 for tree removal and maintenance.
