City of Mason City Council met Nov. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe at approximately 7:00 P.M.

Council members physically present were Scott Francis, Gerald Mahin, Danny Mason, Julie Mize, Kevin Snyder, and Jim Miller. Treasurer Mike Griffin and Clerk Michele Whitehead along with Superintendent Dixon, Chief Anderson, Asst, Chief Donovan also attended the meeting. Guests present were Brian Durbin, Rochelle Parr, Barb Rodgers, Candy Tomlin and Gavin Maliska.

Brian Durbin spoke about the Reimagine Christmas celebration to be held the weekend of Dec 9-12. The organization would like to do a parade and have the parade going down Chestnut Street ( Rt. 10). The Council agreed WITH PERMISSION OBTAINED FROM THE STATE.

R21-96Alderman Snyder moved, seconded by Alderman Mize to approve the parade route along Chestnut with proof of permission obtained from the State.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-97 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the regular session minutes of the October 25th,, 2021 meeting, the accounts payable and treasurer report.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-98 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve the final pay request from Prairie State Plumbing and Heating for $13, 036.30.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-99 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Mize to approve the pay request for the CSO in the amount of $2,111.37.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-100 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve the expense of approximately $4800.00 to install a transformer and light and the end of Main Street where it meets with Rt 29.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

Chief Anderson asked for approval to send Asst. Chief Donovan to CSI tech class in Peru, IL. It is a 40 hour class and requires the purchase of a camera as well.

R21-101 Alderman Francis moved, seconded by Alderman Snyder to approve the expenses of sending Asst. Chief Donovan to CSI class and the purchase of the required camera.

Ayes: Alderpersons, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: Mize

Chairman declared motion carried.

The Council approved the repairs for the Impala and new tires in the amount of $1874.00

R21-102 Alderman Francis moved, seconded by Alderman Mahin to approve the quote for repairs to the Impala in the amount of $1874.00

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-103 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the time change for the Council meeting to 6:00 P.M. starting November 22, 2021.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-104 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve hosting a Christmas Dinner for all city employees, spouses and officials at Smokey’s on Sunday, Dec 12, 2021.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: none

Chairman declared motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned into executive session at 7:33 p.m. to discuss personnel and property.

The regular meeting resumed at 7:45 p.m.

R21-105 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Francis to approve forgive the fines due the City in the amount of $570.00 for 501 E. High in exchange for the owner paying the back taxes and signing the property over to the city so that the city can get the house torn down.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-106 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to accept Dr. Kane’s donation of his dentist building to the city aka 110 & 110A West Elm Street, Mason City. The city agreeing to pay for an appraisal and closing costs.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

R21-107 Alderman Snyder moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the sale of the lot known as 423 S. Mason, Mason City, IL 62664 for $5,000.00.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:51 P.M.
