New kiosks for Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card applications will be available at three Illinois State Police locations, including one in Southern Illinois.
According to the Illinois State Police Firearm Services Bureau, possession of a FOID card issued by the state police is required for all residents to legally possess a firearm or ammunition.
“The Illinois State Police announced that they are opening three regional FOID kiosks to assist people with limited access to internet with their FOID applications,” Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) wrote in a Facebook post.
In Southern Illinois, a kiosk will be located in Du Quoin.
The kiosks will provide “assistance with submitting name/address changes, renewals and new applications online; taking a photo and uploading it to the application (and) assistance with correcting rejected applications,” Bryant said.
Public access to computers will be available to allow individuals to complete online applications and to make updates to existing accounts, she said.
“Due to the extended time it takes for kiosk representatives to assist people with submitting applications online, customers may be asked to return at a different time,” Bryant added.
