Woodlawn Unit School District #209 Board of Education met Nov. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A regular board meeting was held at the high school. The meeting was called to order by Scott Owens at 6:00 pm. Roll Call was taken with the above members present. Also Present: Eric Helbig, Sandra Kabat, Sara Hays, Belinda Kirgan, Kyle Ritchey, Chris Hale, Stephanie Remer.

Visitor Communication: There was no visitor communication.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Dianne Fritschle to go into closed session at 6:02 for selection of a person to fill the board vacancy.

Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Motion carried.

A motion was made by Leslie Knox and seconded by Michele Chesnek to return to open session at 6:33 p.m.

Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes;

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Leslie Knox to appoint Kyle Ritchey as school board member.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion as made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Michele Chesnek to appoint Kyle Ritchey as the Franklin/Jefferson Special Education governing board representative. Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes;

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Leslie Knox to approve consent agenda items as presented.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Chad Phelps to go into closed session at 6:41 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity (5 ILCS 120/2 © (1) and Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. (5 ILCS 120/2 ©, (2)).

Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes;

Motion carried.

A motion as made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to return to open session at 7:18 p.m. Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes;

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Leslie Knox and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve the tentative tax levy. All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Leslie Knox to approve payment of Bevis Construction Pay application #2.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

Item 3 WGS Scholar Bowl was tabled.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Leslie Knox to hire WHS Softball coach Wes Harris for the 2021-2022 season.

All members present voted by a roll call vote: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Kyle Ritchey, pass;

Motion carried.

A motion as made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Michele Chesnek to hire Chris Webb as paraprofessional starting at step 0.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Leslie Knox and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to approve the resolution honoring Steve Danner for his service as school board member.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Leslie Knox to adjourn at 7:49. Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes;
