Woodlawn Unit School District #209 Board of Education met Jan. 20.

A regular board meeting was held at the high school. The meeting was called to order by Scott Owens at 6:00 pm. Roll Call was taken with the above members present. Also Present: Eric Helbig, Sara Hays, Brett Anderson, Chelsey Farmer, Erin Hale, Chris Hale, Matt Smith, Kate Page
Visitor Communication: Brett Anderson spoke about the mask mandate. Chelsey Farmer spoke that she agrees with Brett Anderson and the mask mandate should end. Chris Hales spoke that masks are not required anywhere else. Erin Hale spoke that she also agrees with Brett Anderson.
A motion as made by Leslie Knox and seconded by Kyle Ritchie to approve consent agenda items as presented.
All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Leslie Knox to go into closed session at 6:30 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity (5 ILCS 120/2 © (1) and Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. (5 ILCS 120/2 ©, (2)).

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to return to open session at 8:05 p.m.

A moition was made by Dianne Fritchle and seconded by Leslie Knox to approve the Fiscal Year 2021 audit report as presented.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Leslie Knox to approve board policy update 1st reading.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to accept resignations from Breanna George, effective immediately, Liz Bunton, 2 weeks, and Sara Wiggins at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

A motion was made by Leslie Knox and seconded by Chad Phelps to hire Leslie Novak as a paraprofessional, starting on step 0, effective immediately.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Dianne Fritschle to hire WGS special education teacher Annie Wehrheim, starting at step 1, for the 2022-2023 school year. All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Leslie Knox to hire Lucas Morgan as full time music teacher, effective at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.
Motion carried.
Item VII 5. District Covid Mitigations died due to lack of motion.
A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Leslie Knox to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the WEA as presented.
All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.
