Rend Lake College Lady Warriors Golf Coach James Gray added Kenzie Anderson (Iuka) to his 2022-23 roster last week. Anderson, a senior at Salem Community High School, was joined by family at her signing event held on the Ina campus.
Anderson is a four-time, all-conference, team MVP at SCHS. She played for Melissa Cantrell at Salem where, in 2021, she tied for 50th (+15) at the IHSA 1A Tournament. She qualified for state her junior year, however Illinois banned postseason competition in 2020, due to safety concerns related to COVID-19.
"We are beyond excited to add someone of Kenzie's pedigree to the 2023 Warriors Roster," said Gray. "Her performance at the state competition over the last few years should help her adjust very quickly to the college game."
Anderson was named Southern Illinois Golf Association Junior Player of the Year (2016) and was the league's medalist in 2017. She was medalist in several summer junior tournaments; captured her first hole-in-one at age 15; was runner-up in the Southern Illinois Prep Tour at Rend Lake in 2021; and won first place in the Effingham Country Club's Drive, Chip, Putt competition. She said she will pursue a career in nursing at RLC. Her mother, Patricia Anderson, is an alum at RLC.
