Woodlawn Unit School District #209 Board of Education met March 17.

A regular board meeting was held at the high school. The meeting was called to order by Scott Owens at 6:00 pm. Roll Call was taken with the above members present. Also Present: Eric Helbig, Sandra Kabat, Belinda Kirgan, Joseph Lamacchia, Noelle Lamacchia, Heather Taaka, Chad Skinner, Tyson Sledge

Visitor Communication: Hearing open session.

A motion as made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Kyle Ritchie to approve consent agenda items as presented.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Jeff Burkett to open the hearing for the banning of an individual from school events and functions for up to one year. Members voted: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Kyle Ritchey, yes; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes

Motion carried.

A motion as made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to approve suspension through March 31.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Jeff Burkett to go into closed session at 7:23 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity (5 ILCS 120/2 © (1) and Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. (5 ILCS 120/2 ©, (2)).

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Dianne Fritschle to return to open session at 8:20 p.m.

Items VII. 1 d, e and f (parking lot resealing and gutter repair) were tabled.

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to approve Ullery Painting for all painting projects.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Jeff Burkett to approve the purchase of basketball goal winches.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Dianne Fritschle to replace metal panels in WHS. All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Chad Phelps to approve the resignation of Lori Maharrey as track coach and Andi Nix as grade school cheer coach.

A motion was made by Jeff Burkett and seconded by Dianne Fritchle to hire Kate Page and Leah Bennett as the 2021-2022 grade school track coaches.

Item VIII 3. Hire grade school baseball coach was tabled.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritchle and seconded by Michele Chesnek to set the WGS/WHS athletic official pay rates as follows for 2022-2023 school year: WGS basketball $35- 1 game / WGS basketball $75 -2 games / WGS volleyball $35- 1 game/ WGS volleyball $75- 2 games/ WGS baseball & softball $75 per game/ WHS Varsity basketball $75 per game/ WHS JV basketball $65 per game/ WHS $110 2 games/ WHS Volleyball $75/ WHS baseball and softball $75 per game.

A motion was made by Jeff Burkett and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to approve athletic admission prices as follows: WGS : Adults $3/ Seniors $2/ GS Students $2/ HS Students $2. WHS: Adults $4/ Seniors $2/ GS Students $2/ HS Students $2.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve Belinda Kirgan as the high school principal starting the 2022-2023 school year with a salary TBD but no less than the current salary.

Item VIII 7 (QNS proposal) was tabled.

A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to approve the E-rate proposal as presented.

A motion was made by Jeff Burkett and seconded by Dianne Fritschle to approve the WHS softball assistant coaches as Jacob Frick paid position and Kyle Ritchey volunteer position. All members voted by a roll call vote: Scott Owens, yes; Leslie Knox, yes; Chad Phelps, yes; Dianne Fritschle, yes; Kyle Ritchey, pass; Jeff Burkett, yes; Michele Chesnek, yes Motion carried.

A motion was made by Michele Chesnek and seconded by Jeff Burkett to approve WHS baseball assistant coaches as Mike Coleman paid position and Brad Odum volunteer position. A motion was made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Kyle Ritchey to rehire and grant tenure to Brya Scott and Sara Wiggins.

A motion was made by Dianne Fritschle and seconded by Michele Chesnek to rehire fall and winter coaches as presented.

A motion was made by Kyle Ritchey and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve the FY 22 audit proposal from Kujawa and Batteau as presented.

A motion as made by Chad Phelps and seconded by Michele Chesnek to approve a dishwasher purchase for WHS not to exceed $10,000.00.

All members present voted yes by a roll call vote.

Item VIII 17 (Scissor lift purchased) was tabled.
