Rep. Dave Severin urged the citizens to be cautious while driving in the rain because of the road conditions.
In a Tuesday Facebook post, Severin encouraged people to drive carefully in the rain.
"Thank you IDOT, Franklin County EMS, and WFCN News for keeping folks updated on the latest road conditions. Please drive with caution in the rain!" said Severin.
Severin was first elected to the Illinois House in 2017. A Republican, their legislative experience includes serving on the Judiciary - Criminal and Mental Health & Addiction. Severin is a state representative who resides in Benton, according to the Illinois House.
In his Facebook post, he shared a post and video from WFCN Illinois. The post read: "Areas of Interstate 57 northbound are beginning to flood this morning in Northern Franklin and Jefferson counties. Heavy rainfall continues through the area. Use Extreme caution when traveling if necessary."
Flash flooding was reported in Jefferson County. The Mount Vernon Fire Department and the Jefferson County Fire Protection District report that, thankfully, they have not responded to any water rescues as of 8:45 a.m.
