Village of Dix Village Board met Aug. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Dix Village Board met in regular scheduled session at the Dix Village Hall. Village President, Kurt Karcher, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Roll Call:

Trustees Present: Judy Bronson, Whitney Lipps, Tiffany Gentles, David Barron, Sean Wilkey

Trustees Absent:

Officers Present: Kurt Karcher - Village President, Sharon Bean – Village Treasurer, Brandy Mount - Village Clerk

Officers Absent:

A motion was made to approve the regular board meeting minutes with minor changes for July 2022 by Tiffany Gentles. A second to the motion was made by Judy Bronson.

Motion Carried: 5-0 

Treasurer Report: A motion to accept the Treasurer's Report was made by Judy Bronson. A second to motion was made by Whitney Lipps.

Motion Carried: 5-0 

Payment of bills: A motion to approve payment of the bills was made by Whitney Lipps. A second to the motion was made by Tiffany Gentles.

Motion Carried: 5-0 

Building and Grounds Committee: 

Community Building booked until nearly the end of the year. Cody cleaned the brush off the bridge, and some issues with bees and hornets at the park.

Cody asking if he can trim some limbs, was advised by Kurt to ask the property owner if they are OK for him to trim.

Street and Alley Committee: 

Judy Bronson had conversation with Jax's about patching a spot that they weren't authorized to patch, but missed a spot they were to fill.

Allison Blacktop has had issue with getting crushed gravel for chip and seal project, should be getting some soon. Hoping to start this week and finish next week.

Rebar showing in potholes in front of G&J Fiberglass and the fire station. Judy to contact the State of Illinois.

Police Commission Committee: 

No correspondence, Sean emailed them tonight.

Community Organizer Report: 

N/A

Recognition and Comments from the Public: 

Concern about yard issue, however will be address in line item #3.

Business Items: 

Item #1: Administer Oath of Office to Matt Renaud Jr for Village Trustee 

No motion required 

Item #2: Approve "Slow Children Playing' Sign Purchase 

A motion was made by Tiffany Gentles to purchase 12 'Slow Children Playing' signs for under $26 per sign. A second to the motion was made by Whitney Lipps.

Motion Carried: 6-0 

Item #3: Award Bid for Ordinance Violation Remediation 

A motion was made by Whitney Lipps to approve the bid from CSJ – USA TREE SERVICE to clean up 425 West Washington St. for a total of $1,500. A second to the motion was made by Tiffany Gentles.

Motion Carried: 6-0 

Item #4: Approve Trunk-or-Treat Date, Time, Location 

A motion was made by Whitney Lipps to set the Trunk-or-Treat date and time for 10/29/22 from 5-7p using the Village parking lot and Community Building.

Motion Carried: 6-0 

Item #5: Approve Date and Time for Fall Vendor Fair

Motion was made by Tiffany Gentles to set the date and time for the Fall Vendor Fair for

10/15/22 from 9a-3pm using the Community Building, charging a $25 vendor fee, and renting 2 bathrooms and washing station. A second to the motion was made by Judy Bronson.

Motion Carried: 6-0 

Item #6: Discussion of Video Gaming Updates 

Village to send paperwork to J&J Gaming Ventures for clarification.

No Motion Required: 

Item #7: Ordinance Violation Report 

Working on Item #3 mainly, and maintaining the rest of the ordinance.

No Motion Required 

Item #8: Miscellaneous 

Rome School having a ribbon cutting on 8-15-22 for the new property purchased.

Item #9 Adjournment 

A motion was made by Judy Bronson to adjourn the meeting at 7:38pm. A second to the motion was made by Whitney Lipps.
