Waltonville Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education met July 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Regular meeting called to order at 6:34 P.M. 

Present: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. 

Absent: Anderson & Smith,

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Banach, to go into Executive Session at 6:34 P.M. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors, or specific volunteers of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against and employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor, or a volunteer of the District or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity, and student discipline. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Schaefer to go into open session at 7:20 P.M. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Schaefer to approve the Consent Agenda with the additional bills of $3,446.68. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Klingler to approve the changes to the 2022-2023 Student Handbook. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Banach to approve the Press Plus Policy: 3:70, 5:110, 5:140, 5:240,5:70, 6:140, 6:330, 6:70, 2:230, 4:70,5:80, 6:290, 6:80, 7:15, 7:270,& 7:285. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Klingler to approve the resignation of Josh Ralls as Assistant High School Basketball Coach. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Schaefer to hire Charlie Peterson as Assistant High School Basketball Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Yea: Banach, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: Fassett. Motion Carried,

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Fassett to approve the purchase of 6 Golf Bags, not to exceed $200 each. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None, Motion Carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Fassett to purchase 4 loads of dirt for baseball and softball fields, at $350.00 per load. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Schaefer to purchase Track Uniforms for Grade School for the 2022-2023 school year, not to exceed $1200 total. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Schaefer to increase the Coaching Pay Schedule by 20%, Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer, Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Discussion to add any new positions. No action taken.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Klingler to keep the closed session minutes for July 22, 2021 through December 16, 2021 closed. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None, Motion Carried.

Motion by Fassett, Seconded by Klingler to destroy the closed session verbatim recordings prior to January 29,2021. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Schaefer to approve the vacation request for grade school student 8/26/22 through 9/2/22. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer, Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Fassett to adjourn at 7:55 P.M.. Yea: Banach, Fassett, Klingler, Norris, and Schaefer. Nay: None. Motion Carried.
