LADY COUGARS OPEN SEASON WITH LOSS AT LOURDES

The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (0-1, 0-0 CL) dropped the opening game of the season to Lourdes University (1-0, 0-0 WHAC) by a score of 72-65 on Friday evening, October 28.

Lourdes held a slim 16-15 lead after the first quarter and the game remained tight throughout. At the half both teams were locked up at 33-33. Coming out of the half, the Gray Wolves were the tougher team and led the Lady Cougars by seven going into the final quarter. MVNU fought back but were not able to complete the comeback as they fell to open the 2022-2023 campaign with a loss.

Inside the Box Score

Maggie Coe led MVNU on the night as the senior scored 18 points. She also had four steals, three rebounds, and an assist.

Freshman, Angela Roshak had a good debut as she scored 13 points and hauled in 12 rebounds.

Rylee Pireu and Peyton Davis each added 10 points on the night.

Turnovers hurt MVNU's chances as they committed 22 of them compared to just 12 assists.

 

What's Next

The Lady Cougars are back in action on Thursday, November 3 as they travel to Dearborn, Michigan to face off with the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00pm.
