MVNU DEFEATED AT BETHEL

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (4-4, 0-2 CL) fell on the road to (RV) Bethel University (7-1, 2-0 CL) by a final score of 96-78 on Tuesday, November 22.

Bethel's offense was firing on all cylinders. The Pilots built up a big lead in the first half and never looked back. Bethel put up 52 first half points on 65% shooting from the floor. While the Pilots cooled off a bit in the second half, it was not enough to help MVNU complete a comeback effort. Despite the loss, MVNU had it going offensively, shooting 48.3% from the floor and 40% (8-20) from deep. Bethel shot 58.2% for the game and 45% (9-20) from three.

Inside the Box Score

Kade Ruegsegger had 19 points on 7-13 shooting. He had three rebounds and three assists.

Kyle Kegley finished with 17 points and eight boards. He was 7-12 from the field and 3-6 from deep.

Milton Gage scored 14 points on 5-9 shooting from the floor. The guard was 3-3 from deep. Gage had four assists and three steals.

TC Molk was the fourth Cougar in double figures as the freshman collected 10 points. Molk grabbed four rebounds.  

Coach Ronai's Thoughts

"I thought Bethel played really well tonight. Proud of our guys and their fight. We battled back multiple times in the second half but couldn't get over the hump. This group is going through some growing pains, but I'm excited about where they're headed." 

What's Next

MVNU plays No.3 Grace College in Ariel Arena on November 30. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm.
