LADY COUGARS STUMBLE IN FOURTH QUARTER AT (RV) GRACE
The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (5-4, 1-2 CL) fell on the road to (RV) Grace College (7-1, 3-0 CL) by a final score of 82-74 on Wednesday, November 30.
The Lady Cougars started the game strong as they led 24-16 after the first quarter of play. MVNU shot 45% from the field and splashed in five threes in the quarter. The Lancers battled back in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Cougars 28-20. Both teams entered the half tied at 44 apiece.
After building a 61-59 lead after three, the offense went ice cold for MVNU in the fourth. MVNU didn't make a shot from the field in the quarter but stayed alive due to 20 trips to the free throw line in the fourth. However, MVNU only made 13 of those attempts. The Lancers capitalized on MVNU's offensive struggles late and dominated the boards 50-40 to secure the win. Grace had 14 offensive rebounds and converted 19 points off of their second chance opportunities.
