COUGARS FALL ON ROAD TO OLLU
The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (5-7, 0-4 CL) completed its Texas trip on Tuesday, December 13 at Our Lady of the Lake University (6-5, 2-2) with a 77-80 loss.
Lady of the Lake had it going offensively in the first half as it built up a 47-33 lead going into the break. OLLU shot 58% from the floor in the half and had eight made threes. MVNU did not let the strong first half from the Saints break its spirit, however. MVNU began to battle back and slowly chip away at the OLLU lead.
After continuing to fight, MVNU found itself down by just three after a Carter Jones three with just 47 seconds left in the ballgame. MVNU then got the stop it needed to regain possession for a chance to tie the game with 15 seconds remaining. MVNU got a solid look coming out of the timeout from three to try and tie the game, but the shot did not fall for the Cougars. The Saints iced the game with free throws.
