Cairo School District Number 1 Board of Education met Nov. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

ROLL CALL: 

Members Present: McAllister, Tarver, Harris, Taylor, Nelson

Members Absent: 

Stubblefield, Coleman

Nelson arrived @ 5:51 

EXAMPLE OF EXCELLENCE: 

No example of excellence.

Maria Watkins asked about the free shoes that some of the other districts in the area had received. Dr. Ferrell stated 300 pair were on the way to the district, should have by November 18, 2022. She also brought up the closing of the High-rise building, asked if the district would consider making the old Junior High building into apartments for the displaced people.

Marcella Woodson also spoke about the use of the building for the elderly and veterans people who have lived in the high rise for years.

Report of Superintendent 

Dr. Ferrell stated the attorney was working on the proper process for sale of district property.
