COUGARS FALL TO NO. 16 MARIAN UNIVERSITY
The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (10-8, 3-5 CL) fell to No. 16 Marian University (15-4, 5-4 CL) by a score of 87-77 on Saturday afternoon, January 14 in Ariel Arena.
The Cougars and Knights both started off hot, matching each other as both teams went back and forth. Marian pulled away from the Cougars for a bit midway through the first half, but the hosts got themselves back into the game and only trailed 46-42 at the intermission.
The second half was much of the same except this time around, Marian was more efficient, outscoring MVNU 41-35. This type of play led to the Knights securing an 87-77 Crossroads League win on the road.
Marian was red-hot offensively as it shot 51.8% from the field and 45.5% (10-22) from deep. The Knights also made all 19 of their free throw attempts.
